In this lesson you will learn about Test Suite Items and their functions. It is important for user to understand functions of these items.
Test Suite Items:
There are two types of test suite items that form a test suite in Ranorex studio:
- Structure Items
- Test Action Items
Structure items are the backbone of your test. They form frameworks of your test which includes Test Cases, Smart Folders (You will learn about Smart Folders below).
Test action items contain action to be performed during the execution of test e.g. Recording, modules and user defined modules.
Test suite is just like root folder, which contains root structure. It contains parent/children items structured. It does not contain any other item but only direct children. Items in a test suite cannot be copied, pasted or deleted.
Test case performs functions of test suite such as adding entries to database. User can also merge test cases after creating them with modules. User cannot add test case inside a test case. Wherever user can add smart folders to test cases. Moreover, user can view errors, data binding and test cases through test cases menu.
These are used to organize test suite in a specific manner. Smart folders are placed with module and module groups.
Modules are test data items and consist of actions performed during the execution of test. There are two types od modules, Recording modules and Code modules. Recording modules have all kinds of recording using Ranorex Recorder. Whereas Code modules contains actions programmed written by programmers.
Module Groups are formed by combining modules together. Modules groups are helpful to structure items similar to each other. Module groups are saved in separate file. User can access this file under current project. By default, this file is named as:[Project name].rxtmg (for Ranorex test module group).
Test Suite Hierarchy:
All items are properly managed with hierarchy. These are specific items which are arranged under the type they belong to.
