Why Automation Testing?

Automation testing plays very important role now a days. companies are more focusing on delivering high quality products which leads them to generate more revenue.
But why we need to do automation?
Automation has some significant advantages over the traditional manual testing. some of them we will discuss it.

1) Automated Testing Saves Time and Money
While testing the Software QA always need to make sure that there is no regression in the software by added/modified/deleted code. For this, Software tester has to perform regression testing.
In regression testing, tester repeat the test execution and make sure that there is no regression in the software. This activity is time consuming. For complex and big software, testers need to spend weeks to perform regression testing.
This will create lot of impact on the software delivery and cost lot to the client. So if we do the automation of regression suite then we can surely save the time and money also the test execution is consistent.

Similarly now a days, QA starts the automation in early phases which leads to save the time and money.

In Agile environment, there are two good ways to do successful automation
1) keep automation team 1 Sprint behind. this will help you get the stable build to create your automated test cases.
2) Keep the automation in same sprint : it is highly recommended, but not much feasible option in real life scenarios.

2) Testing Improves Accuracy
all of us know human makes mistakes. Even the most conscientious tester will make mistakes during monotonous manual testing. Automated tests perform the same steps precisely every time they are executed and never forget to record detailed results.

3) Increase Test Coverage
Automated software testing can increase the depth and scope of tests to help improve software quality. you have data driven testing by which you can test the functionality over the several data-sets.
Lengthy tests that are often avoided during manual testing can be run unattended. They can even be run on multiple computers with different configurations. Automated software testing can look inside an application and see memory contents, data tables, file contents, and internal program states to determine if the product is behaving as expected.
Automated software tests can easily execute thousands of different complex test cases during every test run providing coverage that is impossible with manual tests. Testers freed from repetitive manual tests have more time to create new automated software tests and deal with complex features.

4) Automation Does What Manual Testing Cannot
there are some unbeatable advantages of automation testing are
1) Data driven : you can test the software with huge data
2) Consistency in test execution
3) Virtual users

5) Automated QA Testing Helps everyone:
Shared automated tests can be used by developers to catch problems quickly before sending to QA. Tests can run automatically whenever source code changes are checked in and notify the team or the developer if they fail.
Features like these save developers time and increase their confidence. It also helps stakeholders to make the quick decision while releasing the software in the market.

6) Team Morale Improves
This is hard to measure but we’ve experienced it first hand, automated software testing can improve team morale. Automating repetitive tasks with automated software testing gives your team time to spend on more challenging and rewarding projects. Team members improve their skill sets and confidence and, in turn, pass those gains on to their organization.
